Centro América: festivales poéticos que salen a las calles
En Centro América, algunos festivales han logrado desechar el mito de la literatura como un quehacer de las élites. Tal es el caso del “Festival Internacional de Poesía de Quetzaltenango” en Guatemala, el “Festival de Poesía Amada Libertad” en El Salvador y el “Festival Internacional de Poesía Contemporánea” en Chiapas, México, que salen a las calles y llegan a escuelas e institutos públicos, cárceles y parques, a encontrarse con la gente y a acercarse a los que no siempre tienen el acceso a la poesía.
En este año 2020, ante las restricciones por el covid-19, estos festivales se articularon de forma virtual con otros cuatro festivales poéticos de la región bajo el lema “Pedimos el abrazo”, como una manera de visibilizar la resistencia de poetas, artistas y personas inclinadas a las artes, para dialogar a propósito y desde la poesía. El nombre de la plataforma hace referencia a una estrofa del poema “Pedimos” del escritor salvadoreño Roque Dalton.

Central America: poetic festivals that hit the streets
In Central America, some festivals have managed to dismiss the myth of literature as a task of the elites. Festivals such as “Festival Internacional de Quetzaltenango” in Guatemala, “Festival de Poesía Amada Libertad” in El Salvador and “Festival Internacional de Poesía Contemporánea” in Chiapas, Mexico, hit the streets and go to public schools and institutes, prisons and parks, in order to reach people and approach those who do not always have access to poetry.
In this 2020, facing the restrictions caused by covid-19, these festivals, with four other poetic festivals of the region, have put together a virtual space under the slogan “We ask for the hug”, as a way to raise awareness of the resistance of poets, artists and people interested in arts, and to join in a dialogue about poetry and from the poetry itself. The name of the platform refers to a verse from the poem “Pedimos” by the Salvadoran writer Roque Dalton.

Mittelamerika: Poesiefestivals, die auf die Straßen gehen
In Mittelamerika ist es einigen Festivals gelungen, die Literatur als eine exklusive Tätigkeit der Eliten zu entmythifizieren. Die Festivals “Internationales Poesiefestival von Quetzaltenango” in Guatemala, “Poesiefestival Amada Libertad ” in El Salvador und “Internationales Festival für zeitgenössische Poesie” in Chiapas, Mexiko, gehen auf die Straßen und erreichen damit öffentliche Schulen, Gefängnisse und Parks, um Menschen zu begegnen und sich denen zu nähern, die nicht immer Zugang zur Dichtung haben.
In diesem Jahr 2020 haben sich diese Festivals angesichts der Einschränkungen durch Covid-19 virtuell mit vier anderen poetischen Festivals in der Region unter dem Motto „Wir erbitten eine Umarmung“ zusammengeschlossen, um den Widerstand von Dichtern, Künstlern und Kunstschaffenden sichtbar zu machen und über die Poesie in einen Dialog zu treten.
Der Name der Plattform bezieht sich auf einen Vers aus dem Gedicht „Pedimos“ des salvadorianischen Schriftstellers Roque Dalton.
